Don't Like Facebook? Then You'll Like Cobook Contacts' New Livecards Update
May 7, 2013
In mid-March, Cobook Contacts launched its innovative Livecard feature with the caveat that it can be accessed only via Facebook login. Well, that caveat has now been lifted by the app's new update.
As I noted in my post about its launch, Cobook's Livecard feature allows you to share a digital business card containing your contact info with others. In exchange, you get to automatically complete your address book with their contact info.
If you thought Cobook's Livecard feature was pretty neat but couldn't try it then because you'd rather not sign up for it through Facebook, you're in luck. Thanks to Cobook's latest update, you can now sign up for Livecards using only your email address instead of a Facebook account.
In line with this, you can now also add other users' Livecards by email address.

What's more, every Livecard now has a public shareable URL. Don't worry, as you have full coontrol of which info is visible to the public. By default, only your name and company are visible, but you can configure the visibility of other details in your Livecard on the Cobook website.
The latest update to Cobook also includes the ability to automatically commence a call by just tapping a phone number. To access more actions, just hold and tap on the same.
In addition, the update brings support for sharing contact cards via text message.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, the new version of Cobook Contacts is available now in the App Store for free.
In her review of the app, Christine concluded that Cobook is “a great alternative to the default Contacts app on iPhone. It integrates all of the main social networks that you want to pull data from for your friends, family, and coworkers, and presents it all in a slick interface.”
