Get In The Loop: Wacom Launches Visual Messaging App Bamboo Loop For iPhone
May 21, 2013
Mobile messaging on iOS is already dominated by the likes of Facebook Messenger, Path, Line, KakaoTalk, and, of course, WhatsApp. And the long-overdue BlackBerry Messenger is expected to enter the fray this summer. But there's a new messaging app on iOS that dares to be different, promising to make messaging visual, beautiful, and fun.
The new app in question is called Bamboo Loop, and it's from the popular graphics tablet manufacturer Wacom.
Early last month, we told you about the Bamboo Stylus mini, Wacom's capacitive stylus that's remarkably "mini" at just 1.85 inches long. Now, a companion app of sorts for the Bamboo Stylus mini has been released by Wacom in the form of Bamboo Loop.
As mentioned, Bamboo Loop is a messaging app. But Bamboo Loop is no ordinary messaging app in that it's not designed for instant chatting, voice calling, and suchlike. Rather, it's designed for exchanging cards containing images, drawings, scribblings, and sweet nothings.
Small wonder then that the app is associated with the Bamboo Stylus mini. Indeed, Wacom's little stylus is ideal for use with Bamboo Loop.

I hasten to add, though, that you don't need a Bamboo Stylus mini to use Bamboo Loop. On the contrary, the app is quite finger-friendly, as demonstrated in the app's launch trailer above.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later, Bamboo Loop is available now in the App Store for free, with in-app purchases for unlocking premium card styles.
Note that Bamboo Loop requires user signup via email or Facebook. It also allows sharing of cards via email, Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and Instagram.
Bamboo Loop is already the second Bamboo-branded iOS app released by Wacom. The first one is Bamboo Paper, an iPad notebook app that's best used with Wacom's original and non-mini Bamboo Stylus.
