Twitter For Mac Finally Gains Notification Center Integration For Tweets, Mentions And DMs

May 23, 2013
After a dearth of updates of any sort that ran for nearly two years, the official Mac client of Twitter was finally updated a month ago. And now, another update has come for the formerly presumed dead app. The latest update to Twitter for Mac brings Notification Center integration, which is long-overdue, considering that Notification Center debuted with OS X 10.8 almost a year ago. No matter, Notification Center integration is now supported in Twitter for Mac. And it lets you receive alerts through OS X's native notification system when someone mentions you or sends you a direct message. It even lets you receive alerts for when anyone you're following posts a new tweet. You can customize the way you are notified through Notification Center, through highlighting of the app's menu bar icon, and through the app's badge dock icon in Twitter for Mac's Preferences window. The new Twitter for Mac update also includes the following fixes:
  • Fix for Growl notifications not working in Lion and Mountain Lion
  • Fix for bug that prevented un-favoriting tweets
  • Fix for missing account switcher in composer
  • Fix for error message when posting a tweet with a pasted image
  • Fix for enlarged avatar when dragging a tweet into an email
  • Fixes for crashes and various other bugs
Compatible with OS X 10.6 or later, the new version of Twitter for Mac is available now in the App Store for free. The app's previous update brought Retina display optimization for the latest MacBook Pro models. It also included improved sharing of photos and additional language support. For its part, the last update to Twitter for iOS added support for location-based trends, among other enhancements. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
