New Sunrise Calendar Update Emerges With Foursquare And Google Maps Integration
June 18, 2013
Sunrise Calendar, the iPhone calendar app that, according to our original review, "packs all of the powerful features of Google Calendar in a sleek interface," has received another major update.
The latest update to Sunrise Calendar introduces Foursquare support and Crunchbase.com integration. The former lets you see your past checkins right within the app, while the latter enables you to fetch more information about an attendee's company (based on the domain of his or her email address).
Sunrise Calendar now also shows the duration of multi-day events on the main view. If a multi-day event is already ongoing, the app effectively counts down the duration left for it.

Further, the app now lets you tap phone numbers, websites, and addresses from within the event title to activate them.
In addition, the new Sunrise Calendar update makes Google Maps the integrated map provider within the app. Note, though, that you can still choose between Google Maps and Apple Maps for your preferred app for getting directions to event locations.
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, Sunrise Calendar is available in the App Store for free.
The new version of the app also includes improved scroll performance and fixes for crashes at launch and deep linking with Facebook events.
