Showtime, 'Ray Donovan' Take Over The NYTimes For iPad App
June 27, 2013
Subscribers to The New York Times are about to get a full serving of “Ray Donovan.” The Showtime Network has purchased every ad in the NYTimes for iPad app for Sunday, June 30, to promote its new series starring Liev Schreiber, according to Mashable.
What makes this buy significant is that each ad comes in the form of a video. As a result, 26 videos will be available for viewing throughout the app. At the end of each, users are able to download the season premiere episode, for free. You will also be prompted to download the trailer song from iTunes, and install Showtime’s iPad app.
Take a look:
The Showtime Network isn't the first company to purchase every single ad in the NYTimes for iPad app. For example, Ralph Lauren did so twice since 2010. However, this is the first time each ad took the form of a video.
The NYTimes for iPad app is available in the App Store, as is Showtime and Showtime Anywhere.
