Snapchat has launched a new 5.0 update in the App Store, adding in-app profiles, design improvements, a number of performance optimizations, and more. Billed as "a real-time picture chatting app," Snapchat is presently available to download free of charge in the App Store, and is optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch.
The app's developer, Snapchat, Inc., explains what's new in the application's release notes:
As a reminder, Snapchat allows users to select how long smartphone owners can view sent pictures, and even includes an alert that warns users if a recipient has taken a screenshot of a received image (though, admittedly, a hack discovered in January allowed users to save photos permanently on their iDevice). As mentioned, Snapchat can be downloaded free of charge in the App Store, and is optimized for the iPhone and iPod touch.
