Angry Birds Star Wars Goes Free For The First Time In The History Of The Galaxy
July 11, 2013
For the first time in the history of the galaxy that is the App Store, Angry Birds Star Wars has abandoned its regular prices of $0.99 for iPhone and $2.99 for iPad in favor of the awesome price of free.
That's right: Angry Birds Star Wars for iPhone and Angry Birds Star Wars HD for iPad are both currently available in the App Store for free. And this is the first time that the game has gone free since its launch in November last year.
Apparently, as announced by Angry Birds creator Rovio on Twitter, the total price drop on both editions of its "Star Wars"-themed bird-slinging and pig-popping game is in line with this week's App Store Free App of the Week promotion.
This week happens to be the week of the App Store's fifth anniversary. And in celebration of this milestone, Apple is giving away five groundbreaking apps and five landmark games. When I found out about this App Store anniversary blowout, I found it odd that no Angry Birds title is included in those five landmark games. After all, only a handful of games deserve the "landmark" designation more than Angry Birds. So, I think it's only fitting that an Angry Birds title has been chosen as the featured free app during the App Store's fifth anniversary week. I also think it's fitting that said title is the fifth game in the Angry Birds series, following the original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons, Angry Birds Rio, and Angry Birds Space, and preceding Angry Birds Friends and the upcoming Angry Birds Go!. So, what are you waiting for? Download Angry Birds Star Wars for iPhone and Angry Birds Star Wars HD for iPad now in the App Store for free. And may the Force be with you as you play this stellar landmark game.
