Engage In Card Battle Gaming At Warp Speed With Star Trek Rivals' New Update

July 26, 2013
Star Trek Rivals has just warped into another update. Released last May, Star Trek Rivals is the official card battle game based on "Star Trek Into Darkness," the sequel to 2009's "Star Trek" reboot film. As such, the game is played with collectible cards featuring the characters (both human and alien) and starships from both films. Through its new update, Star Trek Rivals has gained a couple of new major features as well as a new special mission and the recurrence of special events. One of the major new features is a new Warp Speed mode. In this mode, you get to play against random rivals in turns that are limited to an hour. The 36-hour timer, in case you're wondering, is still intact, albeit bearing a new name: Impulse Power. And the other major new feature in Star Trek Rivals is in-game chat. Now you can hail your friends and random rivals by tapping the chat bubble in the top-right corner of a game. Doing so opens a channel where you can congratulate or taunt your friends and rivals, or share your friend code with others. The latest update to Star Trek Rivals also adds a special mission to the lobby. Completing every task in this mission entitles you to a free Admiral Pack of cards. Finally, the update invites you to watch out for special new events, which now occur periodically. These events offer such perks as double XP, card pack sales, and double recruit rewards. The new version of Star Trek Rivals is available now in the App Store for free. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later. Star Trek Rivals was released to promote "Star Trek Into Darkness" alongside Star Trek App. Launched back in January, Star Trek App is an augmented-reality app that offers various types of "Star Trek" content. A link to the app using Apple's App Store vanity URL was included in a commercial during the Super Bowl in February. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
