Gree Teases X-Men: Battle Of The Atom, Based On Marvel's Upcoming Comic Book Event
July 24, 2013
Gree has just announced that it's developing a mobile game in collaboration with Marvel. The game is called X-Men: Battle of the Atom, and it's a card battle game based on the upcoming "Battle of the Atom" comic book crossover event.
Announced last April and set to be launched in September, "Battle of the Atom" is a 10-part comic book series that sees the X-Men of the future traveling to the present in order to force the All-New X-Men to return to their rightful time and thereby prevent catastrophe.
True to its source material, the X-Men: Battle of the Atom game revolves around a time-twisting narrative as it challenges players to collect cards featuring characters across X-Men's expansive continuity:
In X-Men: Battle of the Atom, players recruit teams of mutants and form alliances with friends to battle against classic enemies spanning multiple eras in X-Men history – including never-before-seen villains from the future. Showcasing original art by popular Marvel artists, the game will feature an ongoing storyline that will be updated with new characters and events on a regular basis. Fans can collect cards, upgrade character abilities, and take part in team battles to shape the past, present and future of the X-Men universe. If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. X-Men: Battle of the Atom is set to hit iOS and Android this fall. Also coming this fall is another game under license from Marvel that's being developed by one of Gree's competitors, Gameloft. The game is called Thor: The Dark World - The Official Game, and it's the official game (obviously) of "Thor: The Dark World" (obviously), the upcoming sequel to 2011's "Thor."
