'Minecraft Meets Tower Defense' Game Block Fortress Adds Co-op Multiplayer
July 19, 2013
Block Fortress has just received a major update that, most notably, adds support for one of the most (if not the most) requested features: co-op multiplayer.
As noted by Christine in her review of the game here on AppAdvice, Block Fortress is "a hybrid of Minecraft, tower defense, and first-person shooter." And now, you can play this so-called Frankenstein's monster of iOS games in co-op multiplayer mode.
Block Fortress' new co-op multiplayer mode works via Game Center and supports up to four players. In consideration of this new feature, the ability to create, upload, and download maps for use in co-op games has also been added to Block Fortress through its latest update.

The update also adds a couple of new flat terrain types, swamp and tundra, with rare blue and white minerals. As well, it adds a couple of new bots, one being a long-range sniper bot and the other a free light bot.
Furthermore, the update adds a new storage crate box and optimizes save game files for faster downloading and uploading.
Also including a variety of bug fixes, the new, co-op multiplayer-enabled version of Block Fortress is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $0.99 download. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later.
Block Fortress is developed by Foursaken Media, the same studio behind Heroes and Castles, which, in turn, is a hybrid of castle defense and over-the-shoulder action.
