The Folks Behind The Once Popular Flud News App For iOS Call It Quits

July 31, 2013
Come Aug. 8, there will be one less news app for iOS. Flud is calling it quits after three years, according to an email from Flud CEO Bobby Ghoshalthe. Launched in 2010, Flud arrived with mostly great reviews. In fact, in December 2010, I said that Flud had left other news apps behind. Unfortunately, it was never able to compete with apps such as Flipboard, and Zite. According to the email:
The company will move forward by selling its technology and intellectual property. As for what the Flud team will be doing next, we’ve really enjoyed this time together and going forward we will continue to build new and exciting projects with each other. I remember a great Wayne Gretzky quote at this time, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” and we believe that Flud was a bold shot worth taking. We’ll miss seeing your daily Fluds of news and we wish all of you the best. Regards from the Flud team.
The Flud app has already been removed from the App Store. Current Flud users can continue to use it until Aug. 8. See also: Popular News App Prismatic Becomes More Fantastic Following Major Redesign, and Latest Update To Mash-Up Magazine App Spun Spins City News Back Into Focus.
