Drafts Competitor Scratch Updated With Dropbox Sync, Tappable Links And More
August 17, 2013
Scratch, the quick-input note-taking app that is arguably the most prominent rival of Drafts, has just received another significant update.
First and foremost, the latest update to Scratch adds support for Dropbox syncing. With this new feature, Scratch can now sync and back up all of your notes to Dropbox. You can then access them from any Dropbox-enabled text-editing app or device.
The update also adds a new option that lets you create a new note on a clean slate every time you launch Scratch — perfect for those back-of-the-napkin moments. To enable this option, just go to the app's settings section by swiping from left to right on the bar above the keyboard and tapping the gear icon.
By swiping down from the text area, though, the keyboard is effectively hidden. And now, thanks to the new update, URLs and phone numbers in your text become tappable links.
The new Scratch update also delivers the following bug fixes and improvements:
Optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later, the new version of Scratch is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $2.99 download. The app's previous update was issued five months ago. That update introduced unlimited configurable email exporting to Scratch.
