SoundHound's Latest Update Adds A Music Map, Trends And More

SoundHound, the popular music-tagging application for iOS, has just been updated to version 5.3, adding a number of useful features to the free app. Now, music fans can access a "Music Map" from within the app, which displays the location of recent music tags and gives iDevice owners an idea of what people nearby are listening to.
In addition, new trends have been added to the application - "Trending Series" - which also help SoundHound users discover new, popular tracks.
Changes made in SoundHound 5.3 include:
As you can see in the below image, SoundHound's Music Map displays music tags overlaid on a map interface, allowing users to browse by location. Once you've spotted a tag of interest, touching the icon reveals more information - such as artist and track name. SoundHound 5.3 is available to download in the App Store free of charge, though a paid, ad-free version, SoundHound ∞, is also available for $6.99.
