Tagster Combines 4 Pics 1 Word With Instagram Photos And Hashtags
August 25, 2013
What do you get when you take the simple yet addictive gameplay of 4 Pics 1 Word and apply it to Instagram photos submitted and tagged by real photographers? You get Tagster.
Beautifully designed and elegantly executed, Tagster is a universal iOS game that challenges you to guess the common hashtag of a set of four photos in every level. For every correct guess, you get to earn coins that you can spend on lifelines.
Released last March, Tagster recently received its first update.
The update adds support for progress syncing via iCloud, enabling you to start playing on one device and continue on another. It also adds support for Game Center, allowing you to compare your score with your friends and other players.
Tagster has also been updated with a handy option for asking your friends on Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter for help on a particularly tricky set of photos. Unlike the other lifeline options (which let you remove three superfluous letters, show one letter of the hashtag, or show four new photos with the same hashtag), this new option doesn't cost any coins.
Tagster's first update also brings the following improvements:
The new version of Tagster is available now in the App Store for free. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later. Note that Tagster uses the Instagram API but is not endorsed or certified by Instagram. In related news, Instagram has updated its brand trademark and brand guidelines to ban connected apps from using "Insta" or "Gram" in their names. Well, it's a good thing Tagster isn't named Instatags or Tagstagram. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
