Chrome Update Brings iOS 7-Inspired Design And Other New Features

September 18, 2013
Google is on the ball. Less than a week after releasing version 29 of its popular third-party Chrome browser, an update today is ushering in a new look inspired by iOS 7. First up, the browser feels much more like a natural part of Apple’s new OS, which was released a little earlier today. Easily the biggest new feature is added integration with other Google apps. Map and email links will now automatically launch in the Google Maps and Gmail apps, if installed. That preference can easily be modified in the Settings menu. For iOS 7 users only, version 30 also brings behavior improvements to the really nice full-screen browser. Finally, the update brings a new settings UI and the usual amount of stability and security improvements along with bug fixes. A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Chrome can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. The app now also requires users have iOS 6 or higher installed on their devices.
