Minimalist Conversion App Amount Gets iOS 7 Redesign, Gains Calculator Function

September 15, 2013
My favorite conversion app has just undergone a makeover. I am, of course, referring to Amount, which has just received its 2.1 update. First and foremost, Amount 2.1 introduces a new interface that should look and feel right at home on iOS 7. The app's original interface was already more than suitable for iOS 7 as it was. But developer Marco Torretta has managed to significantly improve on that to come up with a new layout that, as he points out, makes for "a better user experience and interaction." Part of the this new layout is the redesigned numeric input keyboard, which now doubles as a calculator. That's right: Amount can now be used as a simple calculator in addition to being a unit converter. Primarily, this enables you to perform simple calculations on numbers before converting their arithmetic combinations. Amount 2.1 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $0.99 download. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 5.0 or later. Amount 2.1 also includes a new fuel consumption category, additional units, and the obligatory bug fixes and performance improvements. Amount 2.0 was released early last June. It introduced a faster conversion algorithm and added support for reordering lists along with other customization options. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
