Yet another spectacular and one a kind product designed by Jony Ive and Marc Newson for the upcoming Product (RED) Auction has been revealed.
Just listed on the Sotheby’s site, the pictured red Mac Pro is expected to fetch between $40,000 and $60,000.
The listing doesn’t reveal the specs for the machine, but earlier this week Apple announced the line would start at $2,999 and will be available sometime in December. That base model sports a 3.7GHz Xeon quad-core processor, 12GB of DRAM, dual Fire Pro 300 graphics with 2GB of VRAM each, and a 256GB solid state drive.
No matter, I’m assuming the lucky auction winner probably won’t have to wait until the official release date to receive their machine.
And the red Mac Pro is far from the only item the duo have designed for the auction. We’ve previously gotten a look at a pair of 18K Rose Gold EarPods and a unique Leica M for (RED) camera.
Earlier this month, the pair also sat down with Vanity Fair for an interesting interview. Ive discussed, among other subjects, his design philosophy and the amount of time that goes into designing Apple products.
Taking place on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Sotheby’s in New York City, all proceeds raised will support The Global Fund that combats AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria.
