Pioneering iOS Website Builder Zapd To Be 'Zapped' Out Of Existence Next Week

October 1, 2013
Zapd is set to be "zapped" out of existence. Released in March 2011, Zapd is touted as "the original iOS website builder," enabling users to create websites with an iDevice and without the need for design experience or coding know-how. But early next week, Zapd is going to be no more. In an email sent to users of the app and in a new post on the app's website, Zapd founder Kelly Smith notes:
Today I wanted to share that Zapd has been acquired by RealSelf. RealSelf is the leading online resource for elective cosmetic medical procedures. As the new Chief Experience Designer, I'll be leveraging everything we learned at Zapd to help build a better mobile engagement experience. The Zapd website and mobile apps will stay up until October 7, 2013 and then will be shutting down.
So, there you have it: come Monday, Oct. 7, Zapd will no longer be available in the App Store. Also, all Zapd websites aka "Zaps" and their contents, including text and photos, will be deleted. Smith points out that RealSelf won't be using Zapd for a new, similar service and advises users to save their Zaps directly from a Web browser. For detailed instructions on how to save Zaps from Safari, Chrome, or Internet Explorer, please go to the Zapd website.
