Readdle's Calendars 5 Gets Smarter Thanks To Latest Update

October 8, 2013
Readdle's own "smart calendar," Calendars 5, has just got more intelligent thanks to a brand new update. In version 5.1 of the $6.99 app, which is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch, iDevice users can create tasks from anywhere. Namely, new tasks can be created from the Day, Week, Month, and Lists views, making it easier for new to-dos to be inputted while on the go. Furthermore, the date can now be configured to display as a badge notification on the application's icon. Of course, this allows users to more easily check on the date; however, given that the Calendar app in iOS 7 offers a similar feature, this isn't so revolutionary. That being said, Calendars 5 users will nevertheless be pleased to see that their chosen calendar app is keeping up with Apple's alternative. As outlined in the app's release notes, here's a complete list of changes made in Calendars 5:
  • Create Tasks Anywhere: Now you can create tasks from the Day, Week, Month and List views.
  • Show Today's date on the icon badge: Have today's date on the badge on top of the icon. Always know what date it is today.
Calendars 5 first launched in September, and in our review of the application we concluded:
Calendars 5 is a very slick calendar app that is optimized for iOS 7 when it is publicly released next week. I currently still have Fantastical on my home screen, but I’m not sure how long this will last. I’m rather pleased with Readdle’s flagship calendar app, and it feels natural on the new OS.
Have you tried Readdle's Calendars 5? As mentioned, Calendars 5 can be downloaded in the App Store for $6.99, and the application is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
