Google-owned app Snapseed has just recently been updated with a pair of new features.
First up, version 1.6 of the app is highlighted by the new HDR Scape filter that is designed to bring an interesting look to photos. The filter’s strength can be adjusted by swiping to the left or right.
Also, a new Shadows slider in the Tune Image portion of the app brightens darker areas naturally.
A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Snapseed can be downloaded now in the App Store for free.
As a word of warning, the release notes ask users with iOS 5 or 6 not to install the update because of a known bug causing issues when sharing or saving images. An upcoming release will cure that problem.
Snapseed was acquired by Google a little more than a year ago.
Google was also busy today previewing some photo-centric improvements that will arrive in an upcoming Google+ update.
Along with a Background Refresh capability to continuously backup photos, the app will also upload full-resolution photos. You can download the current version of the social networking app in the App Store for free now. It’s universal and designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini.
