Spendee Gains iCloud Backup And Data Export Features With First Major Update
October 5, 2013
The simple personal finance-tracking app Spendee has just received its first major update.
Released last July, Spendee was reviewed rather favorably here on AppAdvice. "It’s not as complex as apps like MoneyWell, and follows along the minimal route, like Next," Christine notes in her review. "If you’ve wanted to keep track of your hard-earned dough, but don’t want an overly complex system, then Spendee is a fine option for you."
A fine option, indeed, unless you were looking for data backup and export features, which were notably absent in the initial version of Spendee. Fortunately, those omissions have since been addressed with the app's first major update.
Now, Spendee offers data backup via iCloud and data export via email or Google Drive in CSV and Excel formats.

To keep your data safe and be able to restore them in the future through iCloud, just enable the iCloud Backup option in Spendee's settings section.
And to export your data, select the Export option in said section, specify your desired parameters (Incomes, Outcomes, or both), specify the period of coverage, choose between email or Google Drive, select your desired formats (CSV, Excel, or both), and tap Send.
The newly updated Spendee also offers the ability to edit categories, i.e., toggle and reorder them, to suit your preferences.
The new version of Spendee is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $1.99 download. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.1 or later. It also features a new icon and other UI optimizations for iOS 7.
