Amazon Finally Ships iOS 7 Update To Its Official Shopping App For iPhone And iPad

November 23, 2013
In time for the holiday shopping season, Amazon has just shipped the long-awaited iOS 7 update to Amazon Mobile, its official app on iOS. A day before the launch of the latest iteration of Apple's mobile operating system last September, Amazon Mobile received its 3.0 update. But Amazon Mobile 3.0 didn't turn out to be an iOS 7-optimizing update. Rather, it merely added push notifications for upcoming shipments and a new sort and filter experience on iPad. Now, over a couple of months later, here comes that much-anticipated iOS 7 update. Also including the obligatory assortment of bug fixes, the update, of course, introduces a new interface that's very much inspired by the visual style of iOS 7. That is to say, the app's design is now simpler, cleaner, and flatter. While its navigation scheme remains largely the same, the app now looks and feels like an entirely new app. I dare say that it now resembles the Apple Store and Apple Store for iPad apps more than its previous version. Along with the redesign, by the way, Amazon Mobile has also been updated with a new name. As a result, it's now simply called Amazon App. Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.0 or later, Amazon App (née Amazon Mobile) is available in the App Store for free.
