Lioncase Launches New Smart Case-Like Folio Shield For iPad Air

If the color options offered by Apple's iPad Air Smart Cases have left you unimpressed, consider Lioncase's Folio Shield. The product, which just launched for the fifth-generation 9.7-inch tablet, is available in several more attractive colors and for a lower price, too.
Lioncase's Folio Shield is like the Smart Case in many ways: it surrounds the iPad entirely and can wake (or put to sleep) the tablet's display. You can also fold the Folio Shield's cover in order to prop the iPad Air up, however there are also a number of important differences.
First, using the Folio Shield as a makeshift stand is easier, since the product can prop its enclosed iPad up at a number of different viewing angles (see below). It can also be used to support the iPad while its user types on the screen, as with the Apple-designed Smart Case.
Also significant are the color options available. Personally, I'm not a fan of Apple's iPad Air Smart Covers or Smart Cases, simply because there isn't a color available that I like. Lioncase's Folio Shield, on the other hand, is available in a number of particularly nice color options, and the leather-style design means the case looks more attractive than Apple's own offering.
The material used by the Folio Shield is faux-leather, we should note, and as such the price of the case is a lot lower than the official Smart Case. Though Apple's iPad Air case retails for almost $80, Lioncase's Folio Shield carries a price tag of just over $30.
Lioncase is also offering free shipping to customers living in the United States.
If you're interested, Lioncase's Folio Shield can be purchased online for $31.95. Apple's Smart Case for iPad Air is available for $79.00.
