The SlingPlayer app for the iPad has just made the move to version 3.0, adding a number of improvements and features.
First up, the app is sporting a revamped UI that focuses heavily on content discovery. Along with viewer’s personal TV lineups, a number of third-party services can be used in the app to find the perfect show to watch.
Sports fans should also be pleased with the update. Instead of having to search the grid guide, the new app provides an easy and visual way of finding what channel the game is on. Once tuned in, viewers can also see live statistics on individual and team leaders while engaging other fans on social media.
Social media is also used for both discovery and engagement in the updated app. Viewers can filter live TV programming based on the personal social media likes, and once tuned in, they can join the Twitter conversation with a live feed of relevant tweets.
And as another great addition, viewers can send their shows to an Apple TV via AirPlay and use an iPad as the remote control.
SlingPlayer for the iPad can be downloaded now in the App Store for $14.99. A separate iPhone app, which just received a minor update, is also $14.99.
To use the app, you must have a Slingbox installed with your TV. The hardware starts at $179.99.
