Carcassonne Gains Long-Awaited 'The Princess And The Dragon' Expansion

December 18, 2013
The acclaimed iOS board game Carcassonne has just received a major update that adds a new expansion called "The Princess and the Dragon." Based on the tile-based German-style board game of the same name, Carcassonne, which was released on iOS in 2010, has been continually updated with expansions inspired by its source material's own expansions. A couple of years ago, Carcassonne was updated with not one, but two expansions, "The River" and "Inns and Cathedrals." Then, a year ago, it was updated with the "Traders and Builders" expansion. And now, here comes Carcassonne's "The Princess and the Dragon" expansion. Available via a $1.99 in-app purchase, "The Princess and the Dragon" features 30 new tiles and four new pieces:
  • The Dragon rampages through the country, eating everything in its way
  • The Princess kicks maypole out of her castle
  • Magic Portals are like a teleportation spell for your meeple
  • The Fairy protects meeple from the Dragon and grants extra points
The new version of Carcassonne is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $6.99 download. The game is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 5.1 or later. If, after updating to the game's new version, you get stuck in the Resume Game screen, opening this cleanup link on your device is recommended until a more direct solution is provided through the game's next update. Carcassonne received its last major update early last July. That update brought a much-requested feature in the form of game analysis mode. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
