Dropbox For iOS Updated With Support For Viewing Annotations In PDF Files

December 13, 2013
Dropbox has just released another notable update to its official app for iOS. Most notably, the latest update to Dropbox for iOS adds support for viewing PDF annotations. Previously, the app displayed annotated PDF files sans annotations, which somewhat defeated the purpose of saving annotated PDF documents in Dropbox's cloud storage. Now, though, the app automatically displays annotations in PDF files. The new Dropbox update also adds support for using the "Open In..." inter-app sharing protocol with more iWork formats. It also fixes a couple of issues: one that caused some Office and iWork documents to fail on iPad and another that caused the Camera Upload function to get stuck on some videos. Prior to this new update, Dropbox was updated to version 3.0 with a gorgeous new iOS 7-optimized design plus the following enhancements:
  • Streamlined iPad experience: just tap on your files and photos to toggle fullscreen
  • Improved sharing and exporting makes it easier than ever to send files to your favorite apps
  • AirDrop support lets you send links and files in a snap
  • Seamlessly save videos to your library
  • Speed! Faster launch, photo loading, and video playback
  • Vanquished our most common crashes
  • Fixed bug that caused HTML to render as text
  • Oodles of PDF viewing updates
Also including some bug fixes and further design improvements, the new version of Dropbox is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later.
