Find Treasure, Swashbuckle And Sail The High Seas In Assassin's Creed: Pirates

December 5, 2013
Get ready to explore the Caribbean, search out hidden treasure, and engage in a degree of naval combat as you go, all in an immersive 3-D environment. Because Ubisoft has just launched Assassin's Creed: Pirates in the App Store, where the game is available to download for $4.99 and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. Building on the success of previous titles in the Assassin's Creed iOS series, this latest addition to the App Store situates iDevice users in the “Golden Age of Piracy” and charges gamers with the task of establishing themselves as a revered yet feared pirate leader. In our original article announcing Assassin's Creed: Pirates, we explained:
Taking place during the Golden Age of Piracy in the 17th century, gamers will play as ship captain Alonzo Batilla. Players will need to manage their crew, upgrade their ship, recruit new members, and battle others in real time to become a feared pirate and claim the famous La Buse treasure. During their travels, players will meet assassins and templars along with famous other pirates like Blackbeard, Bellamy, and Hornigold.
If you've ever wished that you could go back in time and live the life of a pirate, this is your chance. The app indeed looks spectacular, providing an exotic, attractive backdrop for the game's exciting seafaring gameplay. “Changing weather conditions directly impact the gameplay and redefine every landscape. Beware of storms and of the treacherous fog that will conceal your enemies until the last moment!,” Ubisoft explains in the application's release notes. Assassin's Creed: Pirates offers gamers “a vast array of islands” to explore, and more than 50 story and side missions feature within the app. Plus, almost 100 treasure items and list parchments are scattered throughout the Caribbean, waiting to be found. Finally, the app allows players to compete against friends using Game Center, too. Potential users should note that according to Ubisoft, Assassin's Creed: Pirates is compatible with the iPhone 4s and higher. “We can not guarantee a satisfying gaming experience on the iPhone 4,” the developer-publisher adds. Though of course, the newer your iDevice, the better gaming experience you're likely to gain from the application. As mentioned, Assassin's Creed: Pirates can be downloaded in the App Store for $4.99, and is optimized for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
