Google Updates Field Trip App With Interface Tweaks And New Publisher Content

December 3, 2013
Google has just issued a major update to its aptly named always-on tour guide app, Field Trip. The latest update to Field Trip brings about some interface tweaks that, fortunately, result in an even more streamlined design for the app. These include a new bottom bar that offers quicker access to the Map, Nearby, Recent and Favorites tabs than the previous swipe-based navigation scheme. In addition, the Map tab now shows an enhanced view that aggregates multiple cards into larger circles when zoomed out. The Notifications and App Settings sections have also been simplified and merged into a single Settings section, which is accessible from the left sidebar. As for the right sidebar, it has also been improved to support publisher content previews by displaying sample notifications. Moreover, it has been expanded with new content from the following publishers: Time Travel Ireland, Fest300, Abandoned NYC, Weird CA, Landmarks of New York, Curiosities Book Series, Andy Haler, Carpe Durham, Secretos de Madrid, and Chimani. The new version of Field Trip is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.1 or later.
