That's No Moon: It's Angry Birds Star Wars II Going Free As Apple's App Of The Week
December 20, 2013
A short time ago, in a galaxy of apps not so far, far away, Angry Birds Star Wars II went free for the first time ever.
Released three months ago in the App Store, Angry Birds Star Wars II is, of course, the sequel to Rovio's first "Star Wars"-themed Angry Birds game, which was launched in November last year.
Normally priced at $0.99, Angry Birds Star Wars II has just been made available to download for free by Apple, which has just selected the game as its App of the Week in the App Store:
Each week, we select a great app and bring it to you, for free, as our App of the Week. (In-App Purchases sold separately.) Though Angry Birds has stayed true to its roots in this sci-fi sequel, Rovio still finds plenty of creative ways to mix up the challenges with diverse stage designs and fun new powers that are smartly bound to Star Wars lore. With irresistible gameplay mechanics and excellent sound and visuals, Angry Birds remains spectacularly entertaining, making it easy to lose track of time while chasing stars and punishing pigs.If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here. So, if you haven't downloaded the game yet, now's the perfect time to get it. As mentioned, Angry Birds Star Wars II is available in the App Store for free. It's compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 4.3 or later. Angry Birds Star Wars II was last updated a couple of weeks ago with a new Battle of Naboo chapter featuring 20 new Bird Side levels, 20 new Pork Side levels, four secret levels, and three new free characters. And just a couple of days ago, Angry Birds Star Wars was updated with the final battle against the Pig Empire, which includes 15 new space battles and 15 new Death Star levels. Last week, Apple chose the pioneering read-later app Instapaper as its free App of the Week.
