Version 4.0 Of Umano Is Further Proof That It's One Of The App Store's Best Of 2013
December 22, 2013
Fresh off its being named by Apple as one of the Best of 2013 in the App Store, Umano has just been updated to version 4.0 with several significant enhancements.
Umano is a bite-sized news app that lets you listen to articles as read by real people. Released in October last year, it was updated to version 2.0 last April with a new design and new features. Then, it was updated to version 3.0 last September with a new iOS 7-inspired design and a number of premium features.
And now, Umano has been updated to version 4.0, the main highlight of which is the introduction of channels. Channels let you subscribe to your favorite publishers and categories, whose articles you can now conveniently browse in the new channel page.
Umano 4.0 also introduces a new Recommended feed, which recommends articles based on the channels you're subscribed to.
Existing users of the app are likely to notice the new bottom menu in Umano 4.0, which effectively replaces the old sidebar menu to make for quicker access.
In addition, the new menu contains two new tabs for the Explore and Community pages. The Explore page lets you find featured articles and channels suggested by Umano's editorial team, while the Community page lets you see the most discussed and shared content across the Umano network.
The Explore page also gives you access to the app's improved search function for finding articles and channels.
Umano 4.0 is available now in the App Store for free. It's optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.
