The official companion app for Anki Drive, an AI-controlled race car system, has just received its first major update.
Version 2.1.0 offers a number of improvements and enhancements to the racing experience.
First up, gamers can now take advantage of an expanded upgrade system. Players can customize the combat, chassis, engine, and energy systems. Upgrades can also be bought and sold.
The new weapons and support items include EMP, reverse drive, horn, and kinetic brake.
And with the new bounty system, drivers can now earn greater rewards for defeating better opponents.
Finally, along with vehicle software updates, the AI opponents have been made even smarter for a more challenging race experience.
Anki Drive is designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. The starter kit, which contains two cars and a track, can be purchased from Apple’s site or your local Apple Store for $199.95.
Two additional expansion cars are available for $69.95 each.
First introduced during the WWDC 2013 keynote, each car is programmed with sensors and intelligent software to help bring a video game atmosphere to the real world. It was officially released in October.
