Apple's Flagship Brisbane Retail Store Opens Its Doors To The Public

January 18, 2014

More than two years since it was first announced, Apple’s flagship retail store in Brisbane, Australia has enjoyed its Grand Opening. Customers were able to enter the new venue, which is located in the historic MacArthur Chambers building, from 10 a.m. local time, and met with high-fives and cheers from retail store staff.

Limited edition Brisbane store T-shirts were also handed out to a few lucky customers, some of which had been waiting outside the store for 15 hours before it opened its doors.

The Apple Store leader is Jonny Walker, and he told PerthNow:

We are so proud of this store at Apple, it’s got a stunning space now and we’re really extremely proud to call it our home. When we took over the store a lot of the original historic elements were missing or in disrepair. What we’ve done is we’ve painstakingly restored it to its original glory.

Pictures of the store (above and below) reached us from MacRumors, but we actually got to take our first look inside the Brisbane Apple Retail Store a couple of days ago, when shots taken from within the building hit the Web. As Walker notes, Apple has maintained and restored aspects of the original building while updating others. The Brisbane store now has new windows and a staircase, and its interior layout has been designed to accommodate Apple’s retail space, room for one-to-one sessions, and a Genius Bar.

The new Apple Retail Store is situated on the bottom floor of the MacArthur Chambers building; it includes more than 200 display units and is staffed by over 100 employees.
