Classic Puzzle Adventure Game Boulder Dash Set To Get 30th Anniversary Sequel
January 22, 2014
Boulder Dash is turning 30 this year. And in celebration of its three decades of gaming longevity, the classic puzzle adventure game is getting a brand new sequel aptly called Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary.
Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary is set to be released on Android, PC, Mac, select console platforms, and, of course, iOS. It's going to be Boulder Dash's fourth outing on iOS, following Boulder Dash Vol. 1 (released in May 2009) Boulder Dash: Rocks! (August 2009), and Boulder Dash-XL (November 2012).
As noted by 148Apps, Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary is quite a special sequel in that it marks the first collaboration by the original creators of Boulder Dash, TapStar Interactive cofounder Chris Gray and programmer Peter Liepa, since the game's launch in 1984.
It also introduces new levels and new gameplay elements, including ramps for diagonal movement:
Developed by TapStar Interactive in partnership with Boulder Dash publisher First Star Software, Boulder Dash - 30th Anniversary is planned for release early this year on iOS and Android, followed by PC, Mac, and select console platforms. It's set to be a freemium game, the first such entry in the Boulder Dash series. [gallery link="file" order="DESC"]
