Cydia Tweak: Have Your iDevice Always Unlock At The Home Screen With HomeLock

January 30, 2014

One of the best aspects of having a jailbroken iDevice is that countless packages, often available free of charge, can alter and adjust small yet annoying quirks in Apple’s iOS. HomeLock, a recent addition to the Cydia Store, is one such jailbreak tweak.

The package is available to download free of charge, and it’s optimized for iOS 7 only. HomeLock promises to do one job, and one job only: once downloaded and installed, the jailbreak tweak will force your iDevice to always display the Home screen (that is, the first page of your iOS SpringBoard) when its user unlocks it. It’s as simple - but useful - as that.

As the jailbreak tweak’s developer, magn20, explains in HomeLock’s release notes:

Tired of unlocking your device only to find that you’re not on the home page? Yea, me too.

HomeLock is a small tweak that will reset your SpringBoard to the default page everytime you lock your device.

As you’d expect, configuring the jailbreak tweak is as easy as installing HomeLock; once it’s running on your iDevice, it’ll start to take effect. If, on the other hand, you’re not a fan of HomeLock, you can disable the jailbreak tweak by uninstalling the package in the Cydia Store.

Though this sounds like the kind of task the recently released Flex 2 could achieve, while Flex 2 will set users back $3.99, the less complex HomeLock is available in the Cydia Store free of charge.

As mentioned, it’s optimized for iOS 7 only, and the package is compatible with ARM64-iDevices.
