Happy Birthday, Mac: Apple Celebrates With 'Thirty Years Of Innovation' Video

January 24, 2014

In celebration of the Mac’s 30th birthday, Apple has updated its Apple.com website while also publishing a new video, “Thirty Years of Innovation,” in which innovators and creative individuals explain how the Mac has helped them work over the years. Featuring Moby, Maki Sugimoto, and April Greiman, among others, the video can also be viewed at Apple’s YouTube channel and we’ve embedded it below.

Apple explains online:

Thirty years ago, Apple introduced the Macintosh with the promise to put the creative power of technology in everyone’s hands. It launched a generation of innovators who continue to change the world. This 30‑year timeline celebrates some of those pioneers and the profound impact they’ve made.

Further down Apple’s “Thirty Years of Mac” Web page, visitors can view an interactive timeline where each iteration of the Mac, from 1984’s Macintosh to 2014’s refreshed Mac Pro, feature chronologically. Clicking on an individual Mac product from any given year provides readers with a paragraph of information, in which Apple explains how that particular product changed desktop computing for the better.

The website also features a “Your First Mac” Web page, and here visitors are encouraged to tell Apple about their first experiences with a Mac computer. You can select your first Mac model, your country, and how you used your Mac (options include “Education / Teaching,” “Animation,” and “Gaming”).
