Popular Video News App Newsy Goes Universal With iOS 7-Inspired iPad Design

January 24, 2014
Newsy, the popular iOS app that delivers the news through engaging video bites, has just gone universal. First, a quick version history lesson is in order. Newsy was launched in September 2009 for iPhone and iPod touch. In April 2010, its iPad edition, the aptly named Newsy for iPad, was released. Fast forward to September 2013, and Newsy was duly updated and redesigned for iOS 7. Newsy for iPad, however, was not. As it turns out, Newsy for iPad need not be updated and redesigned at all. That's because it has been rendered obsolete by its having been practically integrated into Newsy, which has just been updated with universal support for iPad and iPad mini as well as iPhone and iPod touch. In addition, the new universal version of Newsy features a new iOS 7-inspired interface for iPad and iPad mini. Also, it offers iPad users the ability to add stories to a queue, effectively building a playlist of stories served in snack-sized videos. Also including various performance and interface improvements, the new universal version of Newsy is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 7.0 or later.
