Sony Updates Music Unlimited App With Support For Curated Playlists And More
January 7, 2014
Music Unlimited has just been updated with a major feature that, while not exactly new to the music streaming space at large and even to its underlying service, is new to the app itself.
Released in the App Store in May 2012, Music Unlimited is the official iOS app of Sony's on-demand music streaming service of the same name. It competes against the likes of Spotify, Rdio, Pandora, Google Play Music, and, of course, iTunes Radio.
Music Unlimited has just received a new update, and this update adds support for curated playlists. Launched on the Web last August, curated playlists are track lists customized by artists, music influencers, and the Music Unlimited staff. Such playlists include David Guetta Artist Picks, Daft Punk’s Guests & Inspirations Greatest Cover Versions, and 88 Hits of the 80’s.
The latest update to Music Unlimited also adds support for deeplinked songs, albums, artists, and playlists. Moreover, it adds sharing via Facebook, Twitter, email, and text.
The new version of Music Unlimited is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later.
The newly updated app also features improved support for iOS 7. It's yet to be redesigned for the operating system, though.
Music Unlimited received its previous major update back in July last year, thereby gaining support for offline playback.
