Tencent Updates Its WeChat Messaging App With New Features And Improvements
January 26, 2014
WeChat, the popular messaging app developed by Chinese Internet giant Tencent, has just received another update that delivers a number of notable improvements.
First off, the update adds support for real-time location sharing in WeChat's walkie talkie mode, featuring a map that indicates your location along with your friends' locations in, well, real time.
The update also adds a universal search function, which lets you look for something across your contacts, groups, and chat history right from one search bar.
The latest update to WeChat also lets you receive a notification every time you're mentioned in a group chat, share sticker sets with friends, and connect your LinkedIn account to find more friends.
Moreover, the update brings better image browsing in chats, more reliable call connection, and improved video and audio quality.
The new version of WeChat is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 4.3 or later.
WeChat is included in AppAdvice's Video Calling AppGuide.
