Skype Now Supports HD Video Calls On iPhone 5s, iPad Air And Retina iPad mini

January 16, 2014
Microsoft has just issued a small yet significant update to the official iPhone and iPad apps of its popular video calling and instant messaging service, Skype. Last August, Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad were updated with support for HD video calls on the iPhone 5 and the fourth-generation iPad, respectively. Now, Skype for iPhone has been updated with support for two-way HD video calls on the iPhone 5s. Likewise, Skype for iPad has been updated with support for the same on the iPad Air and the iPad mini with Retina display. In addition, both apps have been improved so that push notifications for chat messages are now supported even when Skype is closed and chat messages are now synced much faster across devices. The new versions of Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad are available now in the App Store for free. Both apps are compatible with supported iOS devices running iOS 5.0 or later. Skype for iPhone and Skype for iPad were both updated with major iOS 7 design tweaks last October.
