Pinterest For iOS Has A Valentine's GIF For You
February 15, 2014
Pinterest for iOS has just received an update. According to its one and only line of release note, with the update the Pinterest team "just made Pinterest a little better for you." As it turns out, though, the update delivers something of a Valentine's GIF to Pinterest users.
Get it? GIF? All right.
The latest update to the official iOS app of the popular pinboard-style image-sharing site adds support for animated GIFs, three weeks after the feature was launched on the Web as a result of Pinterest's last Make-a-thon:
At our last Make-a-thon, a small team, including another engineer, designer, and localization manager, brought animated GIFs to Pinterest. After building the product over night, we quickly launched on web, and worked on mobile in parallel. Starting today, GIFs are available to everyone on Android and iOS!Now, you can pin animated GIFs, ranging from hilarious kitty memes to helpful bite-sized how-tos, right from the Pinterest app. In addition, the update adds support for Place Pins on iPad. Pinterest debuted its Place Pins feature to map shared photos last November. On iOS, it was initially available on iPhone and iPod touch only. But now, it has been made available on iPad as well. The new version of Pinterest is available now in the App Store for free. The app is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad running iOS 6.0 or later.
