President Obama Shoots Footage On An iPad During ConnectED School Visit

February 5, 2014

President Obama, ever the technophile, picked up an iPad during a recent Adelphi school visit to promote the ConnectED initiative, and used Apple’s tablet to record an interview he held with a class teacher. Obama is known to be an avid iPad user, claiming to spend several hours each day with his tablet, and this latest video shows the U.S. president leading by example when it comes to the ideal of digital learning within America’s classrooms.

ConnectED, as we explained yesterday, recently saw Apple invest $100 million in MacBooks, iPads, and other products in the hope of enriching learning in disadvantaged schools. In a press release published by the White House, the U.S. Government explained:

In an unprecedented commitment for the company, Apple has pledged $100 million in iPads, MacBooks, and other products along with content and professional development to enrich learning in disadvantaged schools, including interactive learning tools and ongoing support that can have a profound impact for students and teachers in the communities that need it most.

AT&T, Autodesk, Microsoft, O’Reilly Media, Sprint, and Verizon have also made pledges for the program.

Obama’s latest iPad moment comes several years following the original news of the president’s liking for the tablet, and some months after we heard that despite his appreciation for Apple products, President Obama isn’t allowed to use an iPhone for “security reasons”.

Below, we’ve included a video of Obama’s iPad moment at the aforementioned Adelphi school.
