Some New Yorkers Can Now Have Liquor Brought To Their Door With The Minibar Delivery App

While New York City is snowed in thanks to a powerful winter storm, residents of Manhattan and Brooklyn won’t need to leave home to purchase their favorite wine and spirits.
With the new Minibar Delivery app for the iPhone, buyers can order their favorite liquor and have it delivered to their door in 60 minutes or less.
Even though I’m in the neighborhood of 1,700 miles outside of the delivery area, I used a Manhattan zip code to try out the app and browse the stock of a local liquor store.
Ordering was an extremely simple process. After I picked out my favorite spirit and added it to the cart, I could even select the amount of tip for the delivery person. After placing the order, users will receive an email confirmation with an order number and itemized receipt.
Designed for the iPhone/iPod touch, Minibar Delivery can be downloaded now in the App Store for free. The app requires iOS 7.0 or later.
In order to adhere to obvious legal age requirements, users of the app will need to confirm they are 21 or older. Upon actual delivery, each vendor must verify the customer’s ID. Those who can’t provide ID will be charged a $20 restocking fee.
All orders require a $25 minimum purchase. Minibar is planning to expand its service throughout the New York City metropolitan area and other select markets in the U.S. in 2015.
