Syllable Speed-Reading App Updated To Version 2.1 With Significant Improvements

February 3, 2014
Syllable, the speed-reading app that enables you to quickly get through your read-later queue, has just been updated to version 2.1 with several significant improvements. Released early in September last year, Syllable was updated to version 2.0 in November with a new look and feel for iOS 7. Syllable 2.0 also featured integration with Readability, in addition to Pocket and Instapaper, along with a number of other enhancements. Now, Syllable 2.1 is here, and it includes an all-new article extracting engine. Developer Christian Selig notes:
The previous engine just wasn't working as well as I'd like, not always bringing back perfect article texts from links and not always being the most reliable, but the new engine works faster, provides much better article extracting accuracy and is incredibly reliable.
The latest update to Syllable also improves the app's integration with the aforementioned read-later services so that actions made on an article in the app now affect the article in the corresponding service. For example, archiving an article in Syllable now results in the archiving of the matching article in Pocket, Instapaper, or Readability. Consequently, your number of items in your read-later queue gets fewer the more you read with Syllable. Syllable 2.1 also introduces custom URL support. Now, you can import articles from external apps, most notably Launch Center Pro. Specifically, Syllable's custom URL scheme lets you add URLs or text with the syllable:// prefix and the addText or addURL action. The new version of Syllable also delivers various bug fixes and interface improvements, including multi-line title support, which lets you view the full titles of the articles in your feed. Syllable 2.1 is available now in the App Store as a free update or as a new $2.99 download. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later.
