Apple Updates Apple Store Apps For iPhone And iPad With Improvements

March 15, 2014
Apple has just updated both its official Apple Store apps for iPhone and iPad. For the Apple Store app for iPhone, Apple has delivered improvements to the app's in-store notifications feature, adding support for viewing notifications in the app:
Improvements to In-Store Notifications, including ability to view notifications in the app as well as on Lock screen. (US only)
In-store notifications were introduced to the app last December, when Apple launched its location-aware iBeacon technology in its retail stores to send out push notifications for product information and updates to customers. As for Apple Store for iPad, Apple has added a new section (under Accessories) that lets users purchase Apple Store Gift Cards, ranging in amount from $25 to $2,000, directly from the app and send them by mail or email:
Now buy Apple Store Gift Cards right from the app. Gift cards can be shipped by mail or delivered within 24 hours via email and they’re available in any amount from $25 - $2,000.
According to their respective updates' release notes, the new versions of both Apple Store apps also include "various improvements and performance enhancements." Apple Store for iPhone is available in the App Store for free. It's optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 6.0 or later. Apple Store for iPad is also available in the App Store for free. Released just last November, it's compatible with iPad and iPad mini running iOS 7.0 or later. A few days ago, in addition to releasing iOS 7.1 and version 6.1 of the Apple TV software, Apple issued updates to its Remote, Podcasts, GarageBand, and Logic Remote apps for iOS and Apple Configurator app for Mac.
