Cydia Tweak: The Powerful Metaphrase Brings A Pop-Over Translator To iOS

March 18, 2014

Metaphrase is a clever new jailbreak tweak that makes it easier than ever to translate text on the fly using an iOS device. You can pick up the package for $1.00 on the Cydia Store, and it's optimized for both iOS 7 and ARM64-devices.

The package works by plugging into Ryan Petrich's popular ActionMenu jailbreak tweak, and as such users can activate Metaphrase using the pop-up iOS menu (the “copy and paste” menu, as you may know it).

After selecting text to translate, Metaphrase users can simply touch this menu's “Translate” button and a pop-up interface will display a translation in your native language.

This appears alongside the original text and it can be easily dismissed or accessed from any iOS app. If you regularly deal with foreign text, Metaphrase will be a jailbreak tweak of real interest.

You can alter the language Metaphrase translates text into from inside of the Settings app, and the package can be set to use the iOS System Language for easy configuration, too.

As mentioned, Metaphrase can be downloaded on the Cydia Store for just $1.00, and it's optimized for iOS 7 and ARM64-devices.

It's definitely an interesting-looking package, and something iOS users hoping to learn a foreign language, for example, will love.
