Facebook's Paper Gains New Sharing Options And Other Improvements

March 4, 2014

A month after its launch, Paper - stories from Facebook has just received its first notable update.

Commonly called Facebook Paper, or simply Paper, the app presents your News Feed on the popular social network as a deck of animated cards that combine text, photos, and videos from your friends and trending Web publications. Indeed, our original review here on AppAdvice suggested that the app “will transform your experience on the network.”

Paper received its first update just over a week after its release. But that update brought nothing more than a smoother setup experience and bug fixes.

Now, the app has received another update, one that brings a little bit more.

First off, the update adds three new options for sharing articles, namely, Facebook Messages, text message, and email. These come in addition to the primary options for instantly re-sharing posts or sharing them in new posts.

The update also adds support for creating stories in languages that use multi-stage input, including Chinese, Japanese, and Korean. Moreover, it adds the ability to disable sound effects and includes other changes for improved reliability and enhanced user experience.

The new version of Facebook's Paper is available now in the App Store for free. The app is optimized for iPhone and iPod touch running iOS 7.0 or later.

Shortly after Facebook launched Paper, FiftyThree filed for a trademark application for the word “Paper” in hopes of securing the brand of its flagship product, the popular iPad drawing app Paper by FiftyThree.
