Improved Search, Expanded POI Data And More Featured In iExit 6.0
The popular interstate exit guide app iExit has just been updated to version 6.0 with some significant enhancements.
Essentially, iExit is a handy app that lets you know what's coming up when you're on the highway. It detects when you're on the highway and then lets you search for businesses, amenities, and more at the upcoming exits.
And thanks to its 6.0 update, iExit now offers a revamped search experience. Developer Metrocket notes:
If you can't see the video embedded above, please click here.Quickly searching for a business (“Starbucks”, “Cracker Barrel”, “Flying J”, etc), an amenity (“Pet friendly”, “WiFi”, “24 Hours”, etc) or a location (“Atlanta”, “90210”, etc) is beautifully simple now. Simply click Search and either A) type in whatever you are looking for or B) use one of our 25 Preset Searches, and see results at the next 100 upcoming exits. iExit still has Favorites, but you no longer need to set a business as your Favorite in order to search upcoming exits for it.
As a result of the app's improved search, iExit's filtering feature for specifying which point-of-interest categories are visible has been deemed unnecessary and therefore removed by Metrocket.
Another feature that has been removed in iExit 6.0 is support for background alerts, which have admittedly been more annoying than helpful. Metrocket plans to restore the functionality, though, once it comes up with a better way to implement it.
But enough about the removals. Let's go back to the new additions in iExit 6.0.
The new version of iExit also features an improved and expanded point-of-interest data, which now include museums, hospitals, vets, and RedBox locations. Moreover, it adds support for Google Street View for points of interests, improved planning for the next driving stretch while pulled off at an exit, and the ability to suggest the addition, update, or removal of businesses at exits.
Oh, and you may have noticed, iExit 6.0 also introduces a redesigned interface based, of course, on the established look and feel of iOS 7.
Coinciding with the arrival of its big 6.0 update, iExit, which was previously priced at $0.99, has been made available for free for the rest of the year. So, download it now to take advantage of its myriad interstate exit guide features.
