These Jailbreak Tweaks Bring 'Swipe-To-Delete' To The Built-In Clock App

March 26, 2014

Apple’s built-in Clock app usefully allows users to maintain a collection of different world timezones and alarms, however one problem with the application is that it doesn’t yet support Apple’s “swipe-to-delete” mechanism. Fortunately, a couple of jailbreak tweaks called Edit Alarms and Edit Clocks can fix this annoying problem.

Created by Julian Weiss (@insanj) – the same developer behind Colendar, which we told you about earlier today – Edit Alarms and Edit Clocks can be downloaded on the Cydia Store free of charge. Each one adds swipe-to-delete to the Clock application, but while Edit Alarms brings the feature to the alarms section of the app, Edit Clocks adds it to the world timezones page.

As such, you’ll need to download both packages in order for the feature to appear at both the world timezones and alarms pages in the Clock app.

Configuration options are non-existent, and Edit Alarms and Edit Clocks both begin working their magic immediately upon being installed on a jailbroken handset. To test the packages, simply navigate over to the appropriate section of the Clock application and swipe left at either a timezone or an alarm; a delete button should then appear on the right-hand side of the screen.

Both Edit Alarms and Edit Clocks are jailbreak tweaks which are simple yet useful, and we’re pleased to see that each one is available free of charge on the Cydia Store.

The developer’s Colendar package, on the other hand, is slightly more advanced, and adds color customization options for the Calendar app’s icon to Apple’s mobile OS. This package can be downloaded for $1.99 on the Cydia Store; for more information, take a look at our recent article.
