Opera Coast Is A Simple And Beautiful Web Browser Alternative To Apple’s Safari

April 25, 2014
Released back in September, Coast by Opera began as an iPad-only Web browser alternative to iOS native Safari. But a recent update has made the app a lot more useful. Along with changing its name to Opera Coast, the browser is now universal for the iPhone/iPod touch as well. And if you’re looking for a different way to browse the Web, the iPhone version of the app definitely looks interesting. Here’s a quick promo video. Click here if you can’t see it. Anchored by a mostly gesture-based interface, Opera Coast on the iPhone starts with a tile-based home page. The visual search feature offers animated text suggestions and a quick transition to Google by swiping down anywhere on the home screen. Both the iPad and iPhone versions now offer these features:
• "Stuff we like": suggestions for discovering popular sites from where you are and interesting sites to waste time on ("Stuff we like" is shown in search before you start typing) •
A wider selection of wallpapers, automatically downloaded and refreshed from the Opera add-ons site • Automatic iCloud syncing of home screen tiles • New design for context menus (long press in web pages) • New design for sharing menu in the recent sites • Improved introduction guide on first start up
Opera Coast can be downloaded now on the App Store for free.
