The wildly entertaining strategy game Plague Inc. has just been updated with a number of new features.
As we reported last month, version 1.8 is highlighted by the new Mega-Brutal difficulty level. If you thought the plain old Brutal setting was easy, the new level is described as the toughest challenge yet. Players must infect a world with random medical checks, genetic drift, and research tech improvements.
And if you’re in the mood to do a bit of cheating, the update also adds three new cheat modes. With the Shuffle Strain, all evolutions are mixed up. In the Turbo Strain, the starting country is 100 percent infected. Finally, the Lucky Dip Strain gives players five random evolutions.
Players can now use cheats on any plague type and even combine the different cheat modes.
Developer Ndemic Creations has also added four new scenarios into the game that give players different challenges. Some of the scenarios include infecting the worlds with a 30,000-year-old virus and surviving in a world with artificial organs.
A universal app designed for the iPhone/iPod touch and iPad/iPad mini, Plague Inc. can be downloaded now on the App Store for $0.99. There are a number of in-app purchase opportunities that unlock other viruses and scenarios.
